The Focus FK-747 was a AT layout keyboard produced by Focus Electronics. ==== Description ==== The FK-747 is currently documented to come in two different models with major differences between them: FK-747-0, with a case marked FK-7700-U, Omron B3G-S White switches and Omron made PBT dye-sub keycaps. FK-747, which uses the standard FK-747 case, Alps SKCM Blue switches ((Chyros FK-747 Review[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LgciNDqpjKM]])) or Omron B3G-S Amber((Image archive of a unlisted Xianyu listing[[https://imgur.com/a/SS7cSPe]])) switches and Focus made ABS pad-print keycaps. ==== Construction ==== === Case and Internals === Both the FK‑747 and FK‑747‑0 use a two‑part case with an ABS plastic top and a painted steel back plate; both assemblies consist of a PCB and a painted steel switch mounting plate.\\ ===FK-747-0=== ==Top case== Externally, the upper section above the top row of keys has a ridge sloped facing toward the back of the keyboard with a lock-light sticker in its top-right corner.\\ Internally, there are standoffs with brass screw inserts for fastening the two case pieces together, a FK-7700-U marking, plastic pegs for aligning the assembly and the flip-out feet mechanism. ==Bottom case== Externally, the bottom has a serial number sticker (74706290 on the documented example), separate QC and country of origin stickers, an AT/XT switch cutout and six total feet: four non-slip feet and two flip-out feet.\\ Internally, the bottom case has an AT/XT switch daughter board, a piece of tape for preventing the PCB from shorting on the bottom and what appears to be a grounding point for the assembly and DIN-5 cable. ==Assembly== The top of the PCB has a Focus logo with a barely visible FK-747-0 model number below the mounting plate.\\ The bottom of the PCB has another Focus logo with an FK-747-0 model number and an FK-727 model number below that. ===FK-747=== ==Top case== Externally, it has a long sticker above the top row with blocks for writing F key functions and transparent windows for the lock-light bank.\\ Internally, it has threaded plastic standoffs for fastening the two case pieces together and standoffs with brass inserts for the assembly. ==Bottom case== Externally, it has an AT/XT switch with an AT/XT sticker next to it and four feet in total: two non-slip feet and two flip-out feet with hooks for routing the DIN-5 cable. The back also has an S/N sticker, a QC sticker, and a country of origin sticker.\\ Currently, no internal photos of the FK-747's bottom case are known. ==Assembly== The top of the PCB has an FK-747 marking visible through a plate cutout under the spacebar.\\ The bottom of the FK-747 PCB has a Focus logo and an FK-727/747 marking. === Keycaps === The keycaps used on the standard FK-747 are the same Focus made ABS pad-printed keycaps typically found on early Focus keyboards such as the FK-727 and FK-555.\\ On the FK-747-0, the keycaps are PBT dye-subs made by Omron, which are usually found on Omron's B5G-S series of keyboards. ==== Gallery ==== ==FK-747-0== keyboard:focus:fk_747_0-1.webp keyboard:focus:fk_747_0-2.webp keyboard:focus:fk_747_0-3.webp keyboard:focus:fk_747_0-4.webp keyboard:focus:fk_747_0-5.webp keyboard:focus:fk_747_0-6.webp == Acknowledgements == FK-747-0 photos taken by reddit user u/jensgk and used with permission under the CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 license. {{tag>wip keyboard:sense-contact keyboard:protocol-at keyboard:protocol-xt keyboard:keycaps-padprint keyboard:keycaps-dyesub keyboard:oem-focus keyboard:layout-at}}
