The switch is composed of 7 parts, a top and bottom housing, a slider, a return spring, a secondary spring, a standard contact module, and a secondary contact module. The slider is typically white, and the top and bottom housings are typically milky white.

Like all double action switches, KAM Double Action has two stages, one where only the return spring is compressed, and another where both the return spring and secondary spring are compressed. During the first stage the standard contact module is closed and during the second stage both the standard contact module and secondary contact module are closed.
